Homemade Chocolate Peppermint Cake Pops

Christmas Cake Pops (minus the stick)

This is a homemade recipe for delicious Chocolate Peppermint Cake Pops.

You will need for cake:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 small chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

You will need for pops:

  • 8 oz cream cheese - soft
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk 
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Crushed peppermint candy

Instructions for Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Combine dry cake mix, pudding mix and milk in bowl and mix until combined (batter will be thick)
  3. Spread in 9 x 13 pan
  4. Top with chocolate chips 
  5. Bake for 30 minutes

Instructions for Pops

  1. Break up the cake and crumble with fork until it has a fine crumb texture
  2. Whip cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and milk until smooth
  3. Add in cake crumbs and mix with spoon 
  4. Continue to mix with your fingers until all ingredients are fully incorporated
    (check to see if the mixture will roll into balls - if you need to, add more milk)
  5. Cover and refrigerate until firm
  6. Roll into balls and freeze until firm
  7. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler
  8. Dip the balls into the melted chocolate
  9. Roll into the crushed peppermint candy
  10. Freeze again until firm
