Kourambiethes Greek Snowball Cookies

Old family recipe

For generations our family has made Kourambiethes cookies for holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas and even Easter just wouldn't be the same without this favorite. These cookies are super easy to make, and since Sweet Day Gourmet hasn't created a box mix for them yet, we thought we would share our recipe with you instead.

You will need:
1 pound of sweet butter (unsalted)
1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
1 shot of whiskey or vanilla extract
1 egg yolk

After baked:
1 full bag of powdered sugar
Wax paper

Follow these simple instructions:

  • Preheat oven 325º
  • Beat butter until fluffy
  • Add in egg yolk
  • Add in powdered sugar
  • Add whiskey (or vanilla extract)
  • Add flour one cup at a time
  • Beat together until you can roll into balls without the dough sticking to your hands
  • Roll into 1 inch balls & place on an un-greased pan
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until the bottom of cookies are slightly brown

  • While the cookies are baking, sift a generous amount of powdered sugar onto sheet of wax paper
  • Remove cookies from oven and place them onto the powdered sugar covered wax paper
  • Sift remaining powdered sugar onto cookies

Let cookies cool, and enjoy!
