For good reason, too! These little berries are perfect for almost any meal and occasion. But how much do you really know about these delectable treats?

  • The first writings on cultivation of raspberries appeared in 4 A.D.
  • The people of Troy were the first to write of appreciation for the berries.
  • Raspberries were first called "Ida" in 45 A.D.
  • There are over 200 types of raspberries, although only 2 are widely known.
  • Raspberries belong to the same family as rose and blackberries.
  • The bright red juice from raspberries was once used in works of art.
  • In the 13th century, King Edward I was credited for encouraging cultivation throughout England.
